It's wedding season!! And also my busiest season yet! So exciting! So ya I may spend Friday and Saturday nights in front of my computer editing but I wouldn't trade it for a 9-5 any day!!! What I do is amazing and a dream come true!!
Last weekend, the husband and I got to get away for a minute and go to a concert in Austin (about an 8.5 hour drive) and we had so much fun! We needed it. We both had been working so much lately. It was great to reconnect and stand in a sweaty crowd together and jump and shout for some of our favorite music. And the road trip itself was a ton of fun. Hours of listening to music and talking and being goofy and even some NFL trivia questions. We're dorks, I know. But I think it might not have been possible to plan a last minute trip if I weren't my own boss. Best job ever.
I felt the need to post about it on my personal instagram. I think it's important to educate and inspire others. You never know when someone might need little pieces of hope or encouragement. I simply posted that Ivan and I are not marital experts but we take our relationship seriously and work very hard at it. Marriage is not easy at all. We have seen so many people give up and we don't want that at all. So ya, we might be exhausted from a 10 hour work day, and it would be so easy to just crash in bed or go to our separate corners to relax and unwind, but instead we make ourselves sit down together and eat at least one meal together. We work out our arguments before we go to sleep, we make ourselves show our love for each other and by the end of it, we are smiling and happy and go to bed with love in our hearts. We're super tired but we have worked on our marriage and ourselves for that day.
We love to take advice from couples with experience, we practice what we learned in pre-marital counseling, we remind ourselves constantly about how God would want to us to act in our marriage. We only have this one shot, and we are going to make it the best we can! And I think we are off to a great start. I have never experienced such love and honesty and hard work from someone before and I will never take it for granted.
Loving someone and including God is something fantastic. I have experienced both before, with and without God, and let me tell you, God is amazing and brings so much happiness, it is completely incomparable. I read The Love Dare several years ago, and it wasn't until recently did I realize how true that book really is. All it takes is a little bit of effort on your own part to really enjoy your marriage and really keep it alive and happy and healthy and balanced. I hope that Ivan and I always remember to work on and enjoy our marriage forever and never get off of this honeymoon.
Kelsey and Josh are getting married soon and I am so excited for them. They are definitely off to a great start. They were all smiles and giggly and having so much fun at their engagement shoot. I remember meeting with Kelsey right after she got engaged and she was telling me how sure she is about Josh. When he proposed she didn't think twice, she was ready to get married right then! They say when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. Cheers to Kelsey and Josh!!
